We wanted to take this time to share a little about our President and what motivates her every day!

As daughter to the founder, Hideo Kawamura, Christine represents the next generation to continue Maruhide USA’s legacy of quality and service.

Forging her long-term business relationships on trust, transparency, and kindness. She continues her father’s legacy by preserving Maruhide’s meticulous standards for producing the finest Santa Barbara uni and bringing fresh ideas to the table.

As the only ‘Women-Owned’ uni processor in the US, navigating the daily life of an entrepreneur, and mother of two, motivates her to press on, overcome challenges, and exceed expectations.

“Like so many others, I want to build a better future for my children. As a 2nd generation Japanese woman owner, I’ve learned to let things out of my control go and to ask for help when needed. I surrounded myself with talented staff who are the best at what they do and reflect our strong company values. This company was my father’s heart and soul, and he embedded his love for uni and adventurous, entrepreneurial spirit in me. I’m determined to provide the best sea urchin, expand our product lines, and continue being the premier uni producer in the industry. I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue my father’s legacy and hope my kids can do the same one day.”
