PRODUCT DETAILS
An essential and colorful staple of Japanese cuisine, Black Tobiko (Flying Fish Roe) adds a signature firm texture and striking visual presentation to any seafood dish. Derived from wild-caught flying fish (Cypselurus heterurus), these small, semi-translucent black pearls resemble tiny glass beads that burst with a satisfying crunch in every bite.
This gourmet flying fish caviar is naturally seasoned and infused with savory notes to deliver a gentle ocean brininess blended with subtle sweetness and deep, smoky umami. It is larger than masago (capelin roe) yet smaller than ikura (salmon roe), providing the perfect balance of texture and flavor. Home chefs can easily use it to elevate handcrafted maki rolls, complement fresh uni and nigiri, or add bold color contrast to modern fusion appetizers. Our 500g container offers chef-grade quality ideal for home kitchens and professional catering alike.

HANDLING & STORAGE
This product is shipped in temperature-controlled packaging with insulation and ice packs to maintain its quality. Some thawing during transit is expected.
To maintain peak freshness and firm texture, your tobiko is shipped frozen with insulated cold protection.
Freezer Storage: Keep frozen at 0°F (-18°C) or lower for up to 12 months from manufacture in its unopened container.
Refrigerated Storage & Thawing: Slowly thaw the container in the refrigerator overnight. Once thawed, store below 38°F (3.3°C) and consume within 7 days for optimal texture and flavor (or within 2–3 days once opened).
Tip for 500g Portioning:
If you don't plan to use the full 500g tub at once, allow it to thaw partially in the refrigerator until workable. Using clean, sanitized utensils, divide the roe into smaller air-tight container portions or freezer bags, and immediately return what you won't use back to the freezer.
